The journey from Delhi to Arunachal Pradesh can be divided into two phases-

  1. Delhi Airport (IGI Airport) to Guwahati (Assam) Airport

  2. Guwahati, Assam to Arunachal Pradesh

To reach Arunachal Pradesh from Delhi one can catch a flight from IGI Airport, Delhi to Guwahati, Assam. After a 2- 2.5 hour flight from Delhi to Guwahati, one can either opt for helicopter service from Guwahati Airport to Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh or opt for a cab to the desired destination in Arunachal Pradesh.

Helicopter service - Guwahati, Assam to Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh

  1. The seats for this service are very limited and one needs to book his/her seat in advance. The timings for this service are also fixed.

  2. If you avail the helicopter service from Guwahati to Naharlagun , you would reach Naharlagun within 1.5 hours which would otherwise take 6-7 hours by road.

  3. The charges for the helicopter service as on April 2021 were 4000/- per person.

By road - Guwahati to Arunachal Pradesh


You can take a cab from the airport to Arunachal Pradesh directly. The charges for the cab service as on April 2021 were 2500/-

Inner Line Permit for Arunachal Pradesh- How to apply?


To enter Arunachal Pradesh , one needs to have an Inner Line Permit if he/she is not the resident of Arunachal Pradesh. The Inner Line Permit can be applied online on https://arunachalilp.com/index.jsp


You can apply for a single Inner Line Permit while travelling solo or opt for a Group Inner Line Permit. The cost of the Inner Line permit (Arunachal Pradesh) is 100/- per person per district. If you are travelling to Itanagar , select district as "Papum Pare" and processing office as "Office of the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Region".

The district and the office would depend on your destination.



 


 


Pro Tip: One should apply for Inner Line Permit well in advance ( atleast 5 days in advance ) to avoid any last minute panic. Sometimes, the permit might get delayed so the best option is to apply for the Inner Line Permit in advance.


There is also an option for "Instant Inner Line Permit" for 400/- , however a lot of times this option does not work on the website. Thus, one must not depend on the Instant Inner line Permit service.
