Indian Movies and Web Series you should watch in 2021 if you haven't already!
Most of us spend nights watching American sitcoms , K-dramas or British documentaries but the kind of happiness a good Bollywood movie or a light- hearted Indian Web Series can give is unbeatable. Come on , don't fight me on this.
When it comes to Hindi web series , we either have feel-good , heartwarming web series (like TVF tripling , Minus one , Netflix's Mismatched ) or thrillers that will glue you to the screen (like Amazon Prime's BREATHE , Mirzapur , Tandav ). On lucky days we get to watch "out of the box" concepts which are well presented like Amazon Prime's Made in Heaven , Inside Edge , Kota Factory or Scam 1992.
Basically, there is a lot of Indian content to watch and a decent percentage of this content is good. Netflix has invested a handsome amount on Indian content in 2019-20 , this amount is somewhere close to 3000 crores. Now, that's a lot!
In the past few years , Netflix has come up with great Hindi movies (like Bulbbul and Ludo) and web series and one can find a great collection of BOLLYWOOD classics on Netflix.
Here are some amazing Indian Movies and Web Series you should watch-
TVF Tripling (Season 1 and 2 )
TVF's Tripling is a part of my "All Time Favourites" list , the kind of series you never get bored of! Chandan, Chanchal , Chitwan - three siblings and one never ending road trip. Amazing songs and good background scores add to the beauty of the show. Definitely worth watching!

Inside Edge (Season 1 and 2 )
This show sheds light on the "Cricket Culture" , match fixing in the IPL (renamed as PPL in the web series) . This web series literally consists of all the underrated actors who have played "side-roles" in BOLLYWOOD movies - Angad Bedi (known for his role in Soorma and Zoya Factor) , Sayani Gupta ( known for her performance in Article 15 , Margarita with a Straw) , Richa Chadda ( she played Bholi Panjaban in Fukrey ) , Sapna Pabbi ( known for her role in Bindass's The Trip) , Vivek Oberoi , Elli AvrRam , Siddhant Chaturvdi ( yes, MC Sher in Gully Boy). Great actors, fantastic story line - you should definitely watch this web series!
Also, season 3 of Inside Edge might get released this year.

What are the odds?
Eccentric, light-hearted and hardly makes any sense , "What are the odds?" starring Abhay Deol , Karanvir Malhotra and Yashaswini Dayama is what I would like to call an "Out of the box" movie. However, this movie is not for everyone. I wouldn't strongly recommend the movie , even though , I personally loved watching "What are the odds?" , because , hey , what are the odds of finding an absolutely senseless, and whacky yet hilarious and fun movie on the web!

Bulbbul
Another Netflix movie, very different from "What are the odds?" . Bulbbul is a paranormal , women- centric period piece produced by Anushka Sharma. A horror movie with an important message , Bulbbul is one of the best movies I watched in 2020. Interestingly, it contributed to the internet memes too.

Dil Chahta Hai
The late 90s and the early 2000s kids know what I am talking about- realistic friendships, road trips, great music. That's what Bollywood should be about! I still don't mind re-watching Dil Chahta hai and will keep re-watching the movie jab tak hamara Goa trip successful na ho! :P

Karwaan
Karwaan starring Dulquer Salman , Mithila Palkar and Irfan Khan is a true masterpiece and touches the problems of the modern world in a subtle way. This road trip movie is a perfect blend of humour, scenic beauty and moments that would make you introspect.
The three fabulous actors, Prateek Kuhad's music and the amazing script glues the audience to the screen. The film is more about finding beauty in the imperfections of life which can be associated to the Japanese art 'Wabi - Sabi'.

Wake up sid
This 2009 movie was way ahead of it's time, it captured the beauty of Mumbai and the purity of new friendships like no other Hindi movie ever has. Ranbir Kapoor played the role of Sid, a rich spoilt brat who changed eventually when he was forced to face life. Adulting is always hard and this movie captures this journey in a beautiful manner. Let's not forget Aisha's character played by Konkana Sen; a new girl in the city with a vision of being independent.
Aisha played a catalyst in Sid's journey and the relationship between the two added to the beauty of the movie.

Tamasha
Imtiaz Ali's each movie is unique and touches a different string of emotion each time. Tamasha talks about the monotony of the human life and how we are caught in a trap where we are forced to be what we are not. The movie is based on Carl Roger's ' Congruence Theory '. The congruence theory discusses a state in which a person's ideal state and actual experience are consistent or similar, however such a state hardly exists. Our actual self is actually very different from what we strive to be and Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha captures that aspect of life.

Jab We Met
Since we are already talking about Imtiaz Ali movies , lets not miss this one! Jab We Met is the typical Bollywood movie - very dramatic , over the top at "certain" places , will make you laugh and "cringe" at times , still you will love the movie and re watch kar hi loge. Kareena Kapoor's character in Jab We Met was ICONIC and it was interesting to watch her transition. One may not find the movie relevant and interesting today but we all know it was a BIG BIG hit back in the day!
