Selena Gomez is ready to drop her new Spanish Ep, the singer is truly embracing her Latin roots
Selena Gomez is finally back with some Latin music!
Selena kept herself busy this past year. The “lose you to love me” singer released her studio album RARE, her own makeup line RARE BEAUTY, a cooking chow SELENA+CHEF and collaborations with TREVOR DANIEL & BLACKPINK in 2020. I think it’s safe to say the SELENATORS had it good in 2020.
Fans started speculating the release of Latin music months ago when murals of Selena Gomez started appearing in Mexico. Much to the surprise, she announced DE UNA VEZ, a Latin single just a few hours before the release of the song which sent Selena's fans into a frenzy.
"De Una Vez" was released on January 14,2021 and gathered a total of 10.1 million views in its first 24 hours of release. The music video ended with the words BAILA CONMIGO adding to the hype.
DE UNA VEZ also debuted at #1 on iTunes worldwide chart making history as this is the first time a female solo Spanish-song has reached the top.
Just a week later, she announced the release of BAILA CONMIGO, a collaboration with RAUW ALEGANDRO and her debut Spanish ep, REVELACIÓN. BAILA CONMIGO also surpassed 7.8 million views on YouTube in its first 24 hours of release. Both the music videos showcased Selena’s Latin roots and are works of art. BAILA CONMIGO will supposedly have an alternate video.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she said “This has been something I've wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I'm so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen with all the division in the world, there's something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things, you know?”
REVELACIÓN is set to release on 12 March, 2021 and is available for pre-order on all streaming platforms.
